International and national projects

Since its creation Cybion participated and coordinated numerous international, EC and national projects with the purpose to disseminate the innovation culture, foster the Information Society growth, create and take part to networks of innovative compnies. Below some of the most recent ones:

Research and development

COLLECTIVE - The project wants to solve the major constraints of SMEs innovation to:
achieve successful, repeated organizational innovation,
access to learning and knowledge processing,
access to cognitive diversity,
have the possibility to be connected to foster collaborative projects.
An ICT operational platform called iCOMMUNITY will be the backbone of this innovation ecosystem and will let SMEs and SMEAGs to identify future emergent technological and economic trends/discontinuities by developing network-based approaches to early detect ‘weak signals', to manage distributed intelligence and creativity in the process of new product development and to design new modular products in a collaborative way reducing the market risk since relevant inputs and feedback from customers and end users will be constantly ‘embedded' in the design process.

INNOVALL – The project consists in the creation of a platform to extract information from IPR databases. The platform is addressed to companies aiming to pursue innovation processes or to monitor the technological state of the art and/or competitors. The project is based on TRIZ methodologies and information semantic analysis.

Other international projects

SIP-Benchmark II – It is a 3 years benchmarking study of parental control and filtering tools for the online protection of children carried out by an International Consortium on behalf of the European Commission in the framework of the Safer Internet Programme. SIP-Benchmark II will focus on both effectiveness and usability of tools (software and services) for a safer use of the Internet and of the new online technologies: around 30 different filtering tools will be tested in a six-monthly benchmarking cycle. The results will be presented in a user-friendly and comprehensible way to ensure that parents will make use of them. Cybion is responsible for the assessment of the tools effectiveness whereas Stiftung Digitale Chancen is in charge of the usability test.

MAP-IT! – It is a Specific Support Action (SSA) under the Sixth Framework Programme in the IST field aiming to promote ICT research promotion between the EU and Mediterranean region. The project focuses on the following MED Partner Countries as part of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco,Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. The project objective is to promote those relevant MED Partner Country stakeholders, with a direct focus on industrial players (Small and Medium Enterprises, Industrial Associations) to European policy makers to improve research cooperation opportunities between the two regions. The project achieved the mapping of the ICT qualified stakeholders both from research and industry of the Mediterranean countries targeted by the project. To this purpose, the project main activities consisted in the dissemination of the 7 Framework Program funding opportunities during specific workshop and also in fostering the dialogue between the research and the industry players. Cybion serves as the project coordinator, manages the online survey, develops and maintains the website and the database for competences mapping, creates and distributes the project newsletter, participates in project events promoting MAP-IT! and FP7.

PRESS4TRANSPORT (Virtual Press Office to improve EU Sustainable Surface Transport research media visibility on a national and regional level) - The VPO assists EU, National and Regional funded projects to communicate their surface transport research results to the media. With a user-friendly innovative platform, PRESS4TRANSPORT serves both as a Virtual Press Office (VPO) f or project coordinators to promote their research results, relevant news or any noteworthy topic to be covered by the media and as a complementary tool to the Transport Knowledge Research Centre (TKRC). Cybion roles consist of the overall project coordination and of the customisation of the VPO platform.

PROINNO Europe - The purpose of the service contract “Promotion of PRO INNO Europe® Results” is to provide a horizontal support function to synthesize the results of the respective PRO INNO Europe® strands, and to communicate them in an efficient manner to innovation policy stakeholders. Cybion supports the dissemination of the PROINNO Europe project results to the targeted stakeholders via multichannel and multi format promotional material. Cybion is responsible for the design and implementation of both the paper and digital material.

KISPLATFORM - The objective of this project is to ensure the establishment of an integrated European Innovation Platform for Knowledge Intensive Services (KIS) and to facilitate the coordination of activities and dissemination of results of the 3 sectoral networks dedicated to offering pooled support services to high growth ventures active in KIS. Cybion is the partner responsible for the promotional material design and implementation: poster, brochure and other dissemination materials.

Biometrics Deployment Study (IPTS) - The study commissioned to Cybion has provided a status report on the present state of biometric deployment in Europe with a specific focus on large-scale public sector projects. Cybion is the main contractor of the study and has led the survey management, coordinated high-level expert panels and organised and spoke at final event which presented the project results.

Foss Inventory - The study produced by Cybion aimed at promoting Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and building capacities for the FOSS development of information processing and education software tools. Cybion selected, analysed and tested around 300 FOSS solutions for education and science through E-partnerships.

BEAUTY AND CARE

Clarins

Creation of a trends' observatory. Orserie Project 2007-2008 requested by the General Directorate.
The aim of this project was the creation of a VOX: a variegated audience about beauty and wellness aiming to anticipate trends and behaviours on and through the web.
The observatory enabled to gather thousands of internet users sharing their addiction to luxury, beauty and fashion. The project aroused great interest on the press and has been mentioned as one of the best 2007 internet issue (Les Echos). Cybion is still using the observatory to fulfill other services offered to Clarins.

FOOD, BEVERAGE & TOBACCO

Online reputation and image monitoring. Online information detection and communication concerning specific themes selected by the Client.
The aim of this service is to give the Client a continuous updating about:
users' opinions on products and brands;
users' opinions on many specific themes (trends, events) ;
institutional initiatives and measures, sponsorships, products and brands, uses and habits detected on online formal and informal sources (online media, portals and specialized information websites).

The result of the project was a twice-monthly report which informed the Client with the users' feedback, with a brief view on the institutional environment and with interesting ideas on trends and equivalent products chosen by consumers.(Client: Private)

Monthly internet users' opinions analysis and monitoring concerning 3 specific products.
The answers' analysis provided interesting suggestions to the Client company and has been collected into structured monthly reports with comments and graphs.(Client: Private)

DEFENCE

Tender Watch

- Realisation of a Web portal enriched with an automatic search and monitoring system of institutional web sites in the Defence sector. The monitoring system retrieves tenders of specific interest for the client. For this project Cybion has created an advanced system for capturing data on internet and filtering the content using pattern recognition technologies. The portal represents a system for consultation from the client in order to keep track its market and respond to the requests of offers at a global (world) level.

UNIVERSITY
Bids and Fundings monitoring
Weekly updating service concerning client's website sections containing funding bids, News, Events and EU programmes section updating. These sections are related to the EU/national projects area.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

TOTAL

Creation of an informal web monitoring unit (user-generated content, blogs, forum, newsgroup) supporting the Communication Directorate. Goals: identification of information sources to be used by the business unit and implementation of a monitoring solution to notify interesting messages and content.
The service enabled to keep track in real time of social networks and forums reporting relevant information to interested recipients (the right information to the right recipients) so avoiding unnecessary information overloading and optimizing acquisition of knowledge processes.

AOL

Dangerous web sources identification to be used within a web pages filtering device for child protection requested by the Content Directorate.
The aim was the continuous alternative, racists and pornographic websites monitoring to realize their filtering on the AOL portal. The sources identification implied an in depth web and informal sources knowledge (forum, blog, social-network) to detect a lot of sources not so easy to track. The project's result was the identification of more than 200 pornographic sources by month.

La Poste

Web monitoring concerning customers' relations. The aim was the constant monitoring of customers' relation “best practices” in North America and Europe. The study focused on sociological aspects such as consumer trends and man-customer relations, brand value, web reputation building and compliance mechanisms, relations channels, customers investment on new products development, competitors examples and testings.

Created by Cybion in 1999, AgentLand is the first french website about intelligent agents and virtual assistant. It gives useful instruments to easily surf the web (demo, detailed files, directory).

BotSpot

In 2002, Cybion purchased from Jupiter Media Group BotSpot.com, the american website on intelligent agents. BotSpot contains all the instruments for an easy browsing on the web and let the international internauts community make use of all the agents sorts existing on the market.

Veille.com

Created in 1998 with Carlo Revelli publishing "Intelligence stratégique sur Internet" (Dunod, 2000 second edition) Veille.com is the first Online Business Intelligence community with the goal of gathering experiences from different actors on the Internet.

Cybion Italia co-founder and INNOVA SpA (Cybion Srl Holding) CEO. Law and Economics Degree (Università di Napoli), Master in Business Administration (MBA) in Business Policy and International Marketing at Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa (I.E.S.E.), Barcelona (Spain). Innovation fundings, business strategies and international marketing expert, he is constantly working on R&D activities together with highly skilled European companies and Universities. Highly experienced on Technology Transfer activities, he promoted and supported with INNOVA, SMEs participation in R&D European projects.

Joel DE ROSNAY

Cybion France co-founder and BIOTICS International CEO. Former Head of Forecasting at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie (1985-2002). Director of Research Applications at the Institut Pasteur (1975-1985), researcher and lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (1966-1972). He is the author of numerous works, including Symbiotic Man (Seuil 1995) and La Révolte du Pronétariat (Dunod 2005).

Carlo REVELLI

Cybion Italia co-founder and Cybion SA chairman. Economics Degree and Information Science Ph.D. at Paris X (Nanterre). In 1998 he published his "Intelligence Stratégique sur Internet” (Dunod, second edition 2000) establishing the first french Online Business Intelligence virtual community, Veille.com, followed by AgentLand.fr, one of the first platform about Intelligent agents and virtual creatures. Nowadays, Carlo Revelli is the creator and the chairman of the "AgoraVox" Foundation one of the leading European experience in active journalism.

Rina ANGELETTI

Cybion Italia co-founder and CEO. She holds a Political Sciences Degree, with a specialization in International Law. Rina has a long standing experience in the management of research and development activities in the software and communication field for institutional customers both for National and European entities (European Commission, Unesco, etc). She has over 16 years experience in the management and participation of Innovation, RTD and Communication related projects on a European level. She is the creator and the responsible for the Fiscal and Legal Monitoring.

Samuel MORILLON

Chief Operating Officer
Engineer, Clermont-Ferrand business school (MA), INSEAD (MBA). After 12 years of experience both at the french atomic agency CEA and in the tire business (Michelin) in different countries such as Japan, Brazil, Spain and Italy, he joined Cybion in 2006. He is currently in charge of its development, especially in France. He also supports different boards of european groups with new technologies studies. She has been managing Web and Image Monitoring projects and customer relations for 8 years. Mounir ROCHDI

Competitive Intelligence and IT director
Cybion France. Phd in Competitive Intelligence . Specialist in web researchs and data mining tools. He is at the origin of the vulgarisation of numerous bots in Europe. Mounir is part of different annual conferences on business intelligence and Internet -Algeria, Morocco, (…)- and he is the founder of www.veille.ma , the first Competitive Intelligence site in Morocco.

Jérôme VALETTE

IT supervisor
Cybion Italia. Ingénieur des Mines, multidisciplinary courses with a Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Specialization, he is in charge of Information Technology development and training activities for Cybion Italia since 1999. His major specialization consists in online information monitoring softwares, web technologies, information retrieval and filtering, and he works on the designing and creation of technological solutions supporting the Web and Image Monitoring area.

Cybion Italia. Expert of Semantics systems, graduated in Computer Science Engineering at Roma Tre University with a thesis on Text Engineering. His further responsibilities and experiences include web monitoring platform, vertical search engines, chatbots, online BI tools development.
